Cause of common problem of laptop does not power up is either;
(1) Faulty AC Adopter
(2) Faulty Power Jack and cable to a motherboard
(3) Faulty Motherboard (fatal)
I attended Acer Aspire ES1-531 Laptop 2016 model the other day not powering up at all.
First, I checked attached AC Adopter using a mulitimeter and it was feeding appropriate DC voltage.
Second, it was not possible to check by multimeter whether Power Jack cable was working or not as it was tightly sealed at the end.
Third, it appeared multimeter did not pick up any power feed to the internal battery. As such, I decided to get a replacement Power Jack cable.
It was not an easy fix as design of this laptop was very poor not giving me any easy access to the motherboard main component. You have to take out motherboard and flip it over to get an access. (Unbelievable!)
Also, when you remove the top case, there is not much space given to remove 2 thin cables. Narrower cable was easy but wider keyboard cable was very fiddly to put it back on. Unless you put it back on to the correct position, some keys on the keyboard would not respond.
Fortunately after replacing the Power Jack cable in the laptop, it started working again.
Just wondering why those laptop manufacturers release their product with such a poor internal design not giving easy access for any maintenance.
