In Windows 10, you do not have any option to “Hide” specific Windows updates which you do not want (So as Windows 2016 Server).

For whatever the reasons, Winodws 10 (as well as Windows 2016 server) tries automatically updating same device drivers (like printer driver) over and over again.

This is really a pain as most of the time, second time on update will fail if it’s installed alone. Then you start wondering how you can prevent the same update to be installed again.

Fortunately, you can download the troubleshooter tool from Microsoft’s website. When you click on the download link, you will be prompted to open or save the wushowhide.diagcab file (about 45.5 Kb).  Instruction only says this troubleshooter utility up to Windows 10 ver 1607 (Anniversary Version), however, it can be used for version 1703 (Creator Update) as well.

Download the file.
Then Double-click on the wushowhide.diagcab file to launch the troubleshooter. Click Next to proceed.

Then, the Show or Hide Updates tool will scan your system for updates.

When the scan is completed, you will see the following screen. Select Hide updates.

Then you will see all updates available for your system. Check the updates you would like to prevent installing, and then click Next. System will confirm “Troubleshooting has completed”.

If you want the hidden update to be abled again, run the Troubleshooter program again and choose “Show hidden updates”.
